Somali security forces carry out sweep in Beledweyne after killing

Somali security forces have launched an operation in the central town of Beledweyne following the murder of a government soldier on Friday night.

The troops cordoned off the scene of the killing at Bundo-weyn area and searches and manhunt mission in nearby houses, but no arrest has been reported so far.

Residents said the sweep has impacted the public transportation and people’s movement in the Hiran regional district, about 350Km north of Mogadishu, the Somali capital.

The city is protected by Somali and peacekeepers from Djibouti has witnessed several targeted assassinations in the past few months.
